Please join is in supporting the annual Austin Gay Pride Festival On Saturday, June 5th. Austin Tennis club will be hosting a booth at the event to help promote the sport of tennis to the gay and lesbian community of Austin. We are in need of volunteers and hope to see all our members attending stop by to support the club. Please see below for further event information.
the above-mentioned Long Center plays host from 10 am until 6 pm to the Austin Gay Pride 3M Vendor Expo and Festival, featuring local businesses and community organizations. Also at the Long Center throughout the day are concerts by many more of the city's illustrious music talents: Kat Devlin, Lindsey Kane, Lisa Marshal, and others. Earlier in the day, fit-minded celebrants may want to enter the 5K Austin Pride Run, at 9 am, departing from the Long Center.
There are also plays, film screenings, and other entertainment on Saturday - one highlight is a a comedy concert by Sex and The City actor Mario Cantone, at 6 pm at the Long Center's Dell Hall. The Austin Gay Pride Parade takes place Saturday evening at 8:30 pm on the south side of Town Lake (which is what the Colorado River is known as in downtown Austin) around South 1st and Riverside. It then proceeds north across Town Lake, east along Cesar Chavez, north up Congress, west along 4th Street, ending at Guadalupe Street.
The Parade ends at the site of the Austin Gay Pride 4th Street Block Party, which is right in the heart of the city's gay-popular Warehouse District. The block party officially begins at 7:30 pm, but the leading entertainment - including Frenchie Davis, Blake Lewis, and DJ Chris Cox, starts at 10 pm.
Of course, additionally, numerous gay bars as well as gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops have special events and parties throughout Pride Week.
